Programme Description:
Ayuda en Acción is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Program Manager to develop and implement entrepreneurship and economic in Mozambique. The program will contribute to broader efforts to improve the economic status of youth through increased employment and income-generating activities. Specifically, the program will support the set-up of early stage and entrepreneurs start-up enterprises; and support existing youth and entrepreneur owned enterprises to grow through technical assistance, mentorship, business skills training and market linkages.
Position Description:
Ayuda en Accion seeks a full-time Program Manager for the development and implementation of the Entrepreneurship Development program. The role of the Program Manager will be to ensure the program delivers on its deliverables to the donor and Ayuda en Accion.
The Programme Manager will provide overall strategic direction to the program; and will be ultimately responsible for delivery of results. Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and implement the strategy for Ayuda en Accion Mozambique Economic and Development work.
Participate in Ayuda en Acción meetings and provide any support required to manage local operations.
Identify and develop leads for new business/employment generation opportunities.
Prepare new project proposals.
Manage relationships with Funding organizations.
Recruit, motivate and manage Entrepreneurs.
Create and implement systems to manage information and resources in the ED projects.
Build relationships with Implementation/execution partners.
Monitor the implementation of all ED projects.
Prepare and manage budgets for all AEA ED projects.
Generate awareness on AEA ED work.
Prepare and Review internal and external reports on all AEA ED work.
Approve expense claims and purchase requisitions for AEA ED work.
Evaluate all projects and feedback knowledge to the Ayuda en Accion knowledge-base.
Required Skills & Experience:
A Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration/Development
At least 5-10 years’ experience implementing strategy and consulting work
Demonstrated leadership and management of donor-funded international development projects or similar corporate work
At least 5 years of in consulting experience
5-10 years of experience working in the private sector or SME development, specifically capacity building, access to finance and access to market instruments
Extensive experience of working with start-ups/SMEs and solid understanding of best practice in entrepreneurship support including but not limited to capacity-building, coaching and mentoring within the private sector and/or development spheres
Proven experience in strategic planning and program design, ideally with experience in donor funded programs
Strong knowledge of private sector/SME landscape in Mozambique / Africa
Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders at a high level across the ecosystem, and build effective partnership models
Ability to structure and manage complex tasks; including experience in work planning and activity budgeting
Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative while also having strong team building skills
Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English / Portuguese.
Superior writing skills; and Ability to develop well written, cohesive reports that are responsive to the donor's needs
Experience in program monitoring and evaluation for donors
Willingness to travel internationally and domestically.
Excellent computer skills.
Other requirements:
Availability to travel and to move to rural areas.
